The interview explored the realities of conflict in public settings and why practical, experience-led training is essential for organisations across education, hospitality and the wider public sector.

Garth contributed to awareness and community safety initiatives surrounding the Knife Angel’s visit to Newark, including the delivery of personal safety and self-defence sessions to school, college and community groups at the YMCA Newark and on behalf of You Can do Sport Academy (YCDS). The sessions were kindly sponsored by Chole (Founder of the Danny C foundation), who sadly lost her brother Danny to knife crime.

The initiative focused on violence reduction, public awareness and equipping individuals with practical strategies to improve personal safety and confidence in public spaces.

In this LinkedIn Live session, Garth joined Voice Confidence expert Kaffy Rice-Oxley for a discussion around confidence, conflict and communication when under pressure.

Garth joined Shaun Cole from Bom Agency to discuss his experiences in policing, leadership, conflict management and the journey behind creating Training for Reality.

The conversation explored communication under pressure, emotional intelligence, leadership challenges and how realistic, scenario-based training helps individuals and organisations prepare for real-world situations. And included a beer!

Garth spoke to Chris England the highly charismatic co-owner of PVS Media, in Grantham, about the importance of using visuals in the world of training, authentic communication, experiential learning and translating operational experience into meaningful workplace training.

The interview also explored the motivation behind Training for Reality and the growing importance of situational awareness, staff safety and conflict management training across modern workplaces.

Annabel Coupland interviewed Garth, discussing his women and girls street safety courses, situational awareness, personal safety and the importance of recognising risk and vulnerability in everyday environments.

The interview explored practical ways individuals can improve their awareness, decision-making and confidence in potentially unsafe situations, drawing on Garth’s extensive operational and training experience.

Garth contributed an article for East Midlands Chamber Networking Magazine exploring why effective training is essential to successful conflict management and staff safety.

The piece highlights the importance of realistic, experience-led training in helping organisations build confidence, improve communication and better prepare staff to manage challenging situations professionally and safely.

Garth was invited to speak to over 100 East Midlands businesses on his experience of resilience and growth, having been a Bomb dog Sergeant at the time of the London 2005 suicide attacks.

He talked about growth as a person, a team, and as an organisation who have experienced a major crisis, and the need to build psychological resilience before a crisis hits.

Training for Reality works with organisations across education, hospitality, retail, public services and leadership teams to deliver realistic, experience-led training and commentary on conflict management, situational awareness and staff safety.
