Exercise Aim
To test the knowledge and skills and increase the confidence of managers who are expected to
deal with challenging, time critical, problematic and/or sensitive situations as part of their role.
Exercise Format
Delegates will face a series of realistic management scenarios, prior to which they will have been given information, which may be detailed, scant, inaccurate, conflicting, overly complex, or confusing.
They will have a short amount of time to plan for each ‘encounter’ with a role-player, and work out the issues, the priorities, which skills to employ, and how to best communicate their decisions or plan of action, in order to resolve or address each scenario.
Each delegate will receive feedback from their role-player and scenarios will be used to check learning in action and self-reflection as scenarios progress. All participants will get the chance to practice under pressure and also learn vicariously by observing how others handle their challenge, thereby acting as a self-development booster above and beyond their own scenario experience, reflections, and feedback
